Dr Warns Against Circumcision
A leading gynaecologist says any doctor suspected of doing female circumcision or even so-called ritual nicking should be reported to authorities. The call's come from Dr Ted Weaver the president of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. It follows a statement by obstetricians and gynaecologists who say they don't support ritual nicking of some young Muslim girls. The procedure described as similar to an ear-piercing has been proposed as a safer alternative to ceremonial cutting done without medical supervision.
